Read on to find out more about us, David, Julia and Gail, with many years experience in the holiday letting market.
We (David and Julia) started Cumbrian Cottages over 30 years ago holiday letting our own cottages and those of friends. As the business started to grow Gail joined us as the office manager having had over 10 years previous experience in the holiday market. The business soon blossomed with an office in Carlisle, Keswick and Windermere with over 20 team members and 500 cottages. In 2003 we sold Cumbrian Cottages and concentrated our efforts on our estate agency business, Cumbrian Properties.
We still had the bug and of course our own holiday cottages, so we started Lakes Cottage Holidays in 2007. We sold Lakes Cottage Holidays to Sykes Cottages in August 2017, again having built the business with 3 offices and 600 cottages throughout the UK.
Over the past few years we have received messages from previous owners and holidaymakers saying the industry no longer has a personal touch. The remaining agencies are all owned by large companies who are very corporate in their attitude to owners and holidaymakers and you never get to speak to the same person twice. The Covid outbreak highlighted the lack of empathy shown to both holidaymakers and owners by these companies. This has left a number of owners and holidaymakers unhappy with the services on offer by these companies.
Cumbrian Cottage Holidays
Its fair to say we still have the bug, and alongside requests from owners who became our friends from working together in the above companies, we are now offering a personal service to both our owners and our holidaymakers.
Being a small agency with over 30 years experience, you will only ever deal with us (David, Julia and Gail). Our aim is to provide a high quality, personal and friendly service introducing holidaymakers to their perfect holiday cottage in the Lake District.
We believe our owners and holidaymakers are equally important as without one, we can’t have the other. We are always available to help, no matter what the problem or question. Being very hands on and living and working within the Lake District we are extremely knowledgeable about the area and the cottages we market.
