Skelwith Bridge is located 3 miles from Ambleside on the western side of Lake Windermere and 2 miles from Chapel Stile, the entrance to the Langdale Valley. The area is a walkers and cyclists haven with both walking and cycling trails for all abilities. The River Brathay runs through the village to the tumbling waterfall of Skelwith Force. Cathedral Cave, Loughrigg Tarn and Elter Water are popular walks and easily reached from the village and reward visitors with breathtaking views and a refreshing dip in cool waters on summer days.
