Dalston Cottages

The pretty village of Dalston sits 4 miles south west of the border city of Carlisle.  Easily accessible only minutes away via the Carlisle bypass from the M6, this is the perfect base for exploring the delights of the northern Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and Scottish Borders.

The village itself has a boutique shop, Bluebell and Bridge End Inn both serving delicious food and drink, Crumbs sandwich shop, fish and chips take away, bakers, Co-op, hairdressers, recreation ground where regular activities are on throughout the year and the River Caldew meandering through where riverside walks can be enjoyed.

Ideal for exploring the Lake District town of Caldbeck and the magnificent Caldbeck Fells are a 15 minute drive, Bassenthwaite is within 30 minutes over the fells and Keswick slightly further within a 40 minute drive.  The Border City of Carlisle is just 10 minutes away with activities, shopping centre, pubs and restaurants and for those who enjoy outlet shops, Gretna Gateway is half an hours drive.  The bypass makes exploring further afield easily accessible and Penrith, Ullswater, the Eden Valley or all within a 40 minute drive.  The Victorian seaside town of Silloth is 35 minutes and Maryport is within 40 minutes with harbour, aquarium, clip and climb and go karting.

Dalston really is a central base from which to explore northern Cumbria, but return to a base where everything you need in on your doorstep but the madding crowds of the Lake District is a world away.
