Lorton is located midway between Keswick and Cockermouth in the north western slopes of the Lake District close to Whinlatter Forest. Its location makes it an ideal base from which to enjoy a quieter break away from the main tourist honeypots but still be able to enjoy their amenities within a short drive. With walks from the door to some of the most stunning views the Lake District has to offer including views across the Solway Firth to Scotland beyond ensure avid walkers return year after year to soak up the vistas.

Close to Whinlatter Forest with mountain bike trails and Go Ape add adventure to your stay and the western lakes of Loweswater and Crummock Water are less than a 10 minute drive. The shores of Bassenthwaite Lake are 10 minutes away and the market town of Keswick is a 15 minute drive.

The Vale of Lorton is a walkers paradise with stunning scenery whether from the fell summits or following the winding River Cocker making its way from Crummock Water to Cockermouth where you can take in Spout Force on route.
