Caldbeck Cottages

Caldbeck cottages are the perfect way to enjoy this pretty village. Caldbeck attracts visitors for many reasons, the traditional pub serves mouth watering meals, there are 2 cafes serving delicious home cooked afternoon teas and treats and the duck pond is a tranquil spot to watch the wildlife. The Caldbeck fells are a chance to explore the fells away from the main thoroughfares of the Lake District and offer 360degree views over the Cumbrian countryside to the Solway Coast and across to Scotland. Known locally as ‘the back of Skidda’ you can walk over Skiddaw and drop down into Keswick, the views across Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake to the majestic fells beyond are stunning. Climbers are often found in the now abandoned quarries which provide a less challenging climb than some of the steeper slopes of the national park. Bassenthwaite Lake is a 10 minute drive with the Wildlife Park and Keswick is a further 10 minutes. The border city of Carlisle is a 25 minute drive with shops, cafes, restaurants, cinema and attractions to amuse the children as well as castle and cathedral.
