Bowness-on-Solway Cottages

The seaside village of Bowness-on-Solway is best known for its Hadrian’s Wall connections rather than for its seaside location. Nestled on the shores of Moricambe Bay, on the Solway Coast, Bowness-on-Solway is either the starting or end point for those walking the wall. The village has a Bistro and village pub, the perfect spot to celebrate your success on finishing The Wall, both serve delicious meals and local ales. For those looking for a relaxing base from which to enjoy leisurely walks the area is ideal, quiet country roads or beach walks are both on the doorstep and of course you can march along Hadrian’s Wall treading in footsteps from a bygone era. Drumbrugh Moss Nature Reserve is close by for those who enjoy bird watching and getting out and about amongst nature. On a clear day you can look out across the bay to Scotland or inland towards the Lake District fells. The county capital of Cumbria, Carlisle, is a half hour drive and Lake Ullswater is just over an hours drive, alternatively follow the shore line to the seaside town of Silloth and beyond to the western Lakes less than an hours drive.
