Overview
Watermillock is a hamlet nestled on the western shores of Lake Ullswater popular with walkers and water sports enthusiasts alike. There are a number of marinas along the lake where you can hire a boat, try windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking or explore the fells on foot, the rewarding views across the fell tops to the glistening lake below are breathtaking. Walkers can also admire the lake from the Ullswater Way, a circular route around the lake, if the 20 miles walk is a bit too much, jump aboard the Ullswater Steamers with several pick up points along the lake and complete the journey on a relaxing cruise back. A visit to Ullswater is not complete until you have visited the stunning, tumbling waterfall, Aira Force, surrounded by woodland, picnic areas and a cafe, cool down on a summers day in the pools at the top of the falls. North of Watermillock is Pooley Bridge with a number of shops, pubs and restaurants, you will also pass Another Place on route perfect for a fine dining experience. Follow the lake south, passing through the picturesque villages with shops and pubs to Kirkstone Pass a scenic route over the mountain tops to Windermere and Ambleside for a day exploring the South Lakes or take the A66, minutes away, to the popular market town of Keswick, just a 20 minute drive.
