Wheatsheaf Apartment, Abbeytown is a spacious first floor apartment above the village pub of the same name (open weekends only). The accommodation is ideal for a family or couples looking for somewhere to escape everyday living in a base ideal for exploring both the Lake District and Solway Coast. The apartment is furnished and equipped with everything needed whether you are staying for a few nights or longer. The outdoor terrace is a sun trap with seating and firepit and a space to spend summer evenings unwinding as the sunsets. With a sofa bed in the lounge, made up ready for your stay when additional guests are booked, the apartment provides versatile accommodation for up to 6 people.
Access is via an external staircase to the roof terrace with patio seating and firepit. The lounge has L shaped seating in front of the smart TV and feature fireplace with electric fire and additional sofa which can convert to a bed (surcharge applies and is made up ready for your arrival). The spacious dining kitchen has electric oven and hob, fridge with chilled water dispenser, freezer, dishwasher, air fryer and dining table for enjoying family meals, playing board games or lingering with a morning coffee whilst you plan the day ahead. In the hall way there is ample space for coats and walking boots and a washing machine and tumble dryer is provided. The master bedroom has a king size bed and original feature fireplace, the second bedroom has twin beds that can convert to a super king size bed on request. The family bathroom has a bath, shower cubicle and hand basin.
All gas, electric, bed linen and towels are provided. Cot and highchair available. Ample private parking. Roof top terrace with seating and fire pit and use of the pubs beer garden with picnic benches.
Abbeytown, named after the abbey, which still stand in the village, is located in the north western corner of Cumbria surrounded by rural countryside. The village has a well stocked shop and pub (open Friday, Saturday and Sunday only, no food). The popular Victorian seaside resort of Silloth with a few shops, ice cream parlour, cafes, restaurants, children’s water splash park, amusement arcade, golf course and promenade is a 10 minute drive. The historic city of Carlisle is half an hour away with Castle and Cathedral. The northern Skiddaw range of fells make a scenic backdrop to the village and are less than half an hour away, along with the popular town of Keswick with shops, pubs, restaurants, visitor attractions and Derwentwater. The quieter western Lakes are half an hours drive making Abbeytown an ideal base to enjoy relaxing beach days and adventure in the Lake District fells.
