History lovers will be captivated by the private path leading directly to Hadrian’s Wall, allowing you to wander along this remarkable World Heritage Site, tracing the footsteps of Roman soldiers and discovering ancient forts, archaeological remains and museums that bring the past vividly to life. Nearby, the evocative ruins of Lanercost Priory provide a wonderfully atmospheric setting for a gentle stroll, followed by brunch or coffee in the café. The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is equipped with everything needed for a relaxing break. Settle on the leather sofa to watch your favourite programs on the TV. The kitchen area has an electric oven and hob, fridge, dishwasher and microwave, perfect for rustling up a meal for 2 to be enjoyed at the dining table. The double bedroom has a TV and promises a restful nights sleep. Freshen up in the bathroom with a shower over bath and hand basin.
All electric, bed linen and towels provided. Private parking for 1 car and additional parking by arrangement. Private patio area with dining furniture and BBQ. Please note this cottage is not big enough for a cot. Shared drying room with washing machines, tumble driers, freezer and space to dry walking gear and storage for bikes.
Situated in the northern corner of Cumbria, this is an ideal base for exploring the region. With the A69 and M6 close at hand, days out to Newcastle or the Scottish Borders are easily within reach. Brampton 3 miles away has independent, shops, bars and restaurants and Talkin Tarn, a beautiful nearby nature spot, is perfect for families, with a café, play area, rowing boat hire, and seasonal activities. Ullswater — the Lake District’s second-largest lake — and the popular town of Keswick are both within a 45-minute drive, offering stunning scenery and memorable days out.
The historic border city of Carlisle is 9 miles away, where you can continue your historical adventure at the castle and cathedral, enjoy family attractions and parks, browse the shops, or dine in one of the many restaurants.
