Thwaite Hill Barn, Thornthwaite, is a charming stone-built barn conversion tucked away in a peaceful Lake District village, with walks from the doorstep, views towards Skiddaw and the bustling market town of Keswick just a few minutes away by car. Combining traditional character with contemporary comforts, it’s a welcoming retreat for couples, friends or families looking to explore the northern Lake District. Designed in an ‘upside-down’ style to make the most of its surroundings, the cottage has its bedrooms on the ground floor and living accommodation above. After a day on the fells, spend summer evenings relaxing in the garden as the sun goes down behind the mountains, or on cooler evenings light the wood-burning stove, settle into the sofa and enjoy a favourite film on the Smart TV.
The master bedroom has a super king-size zip-and-link bed, which can be made into twin beds on request – please advise at the time of booking. The second bedroom has a comfortable double bed. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over and hand basin.
Upstairs, the cosy lounge provides a relaxing space to unwind, with comfortable seating gathered around the wood-burning stove and Smart TV. The breakfast kitchen is well equipped with everything needed for your stay, including an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine and microwave. Gather around the dining table for leisurely breakfasts before heading out for the day, or enjoy an evening meal together after your latest Lake District adventure.
The garden has outdoor seating and lovely views towards Skiddaw – a peaceful spot for a morning coffee or an evening drink while enjoying the surrounding scenery.
All gas, electricity, bed linen and towels are included, together with an initial supply of logs for the wood-burning stove. Private parking is available for one car. Two well behaved dogs are welcome.
Please note: Thwaite Hill Barn does not accept children under five years old.
