Located just off the A66 Penrith to Keswick road, Stonefold Cottage Newbiggin offers guests the best of both worlds. In a quiet, rural location holidaymakers can unwind and recharge surrounded by rolling countryside yet the Caldbeck and Ullswater fells, along with Keswick are only minutes away. The cottage retains many traditional features including beams and exposed brick work, yet provides a contemporary and cosy home from home. With the living area being on the first floor to take advantage of the open countryside views, staying in to admire the view will definitely be on your list of things to do. With a garden, shared with the owner who lives next door, and seating, finish your day with a glass of wine whilst watching the sun set over the fells and admiring the view of the countryside which goes on for miles. The nearby village of Stainton has a shop and pub serving locally sourced bar meals and is less than a mile away.
Stonefold Cottage has 2 ground floor bedrooms, a double and single, both are furnished with pine furniture and colourful bedding. The modern family bathroom has a shower over the bath, hand basin and WC, perfect for a quick freshen up or a relaxing bubble bath.
The open plan first floor has a vaulted ceiling and canopy of beams. The comfy leather sofas are perfectly placed around the Freeview TV to ensure you can still watch your favourite shows. The kitchen area is equipped to rustle up a meal with electric cooker, fridge and microwave. Linger with your morning cuppa at the dining table and plan your days adventure.
The cottage has oil central heating, provides all linen and towels. There is private parking for 1 car and shared use (with the owner) of the garden with seating and views across the fells and Eden Valley. Sorry this cottage does not accept children under 5.
Newbiggin is a small village just off the A66 Penrith to Keswick road. Penrith, known locally as the Gateway to the Lakes, is a short 5 minute drive with boutique shops, supermarkets, leisure centre, bars, restaurants and takeaways. The bustling Lake District town of Keswick where you can enjoy a day out at Derwentwater, explore some of the popular fells including Catbells, Helvellyn and Skiddaw and visit attractions such as the Pencil Museum, climbing walls and the Puzzling Place is just a 20 minute drive. Walks from the door over the Caldbeck and Ullswater Fells can be enjoyed or take a 10 minute drive to the shores of Lake Ullswater and Pooley Bridge and tackle the 20 mile Ullswater Way. There are a number of popular attractions within a short drive of Newbiggin including the Rheged centre with shops, art galleries and cafes, Dalemain House and gardens, the Alpaca Centre, Aira Force waterfall and café and the Ullswater Steamers. The undulating countryside of the Eden Valley is a 10 minute drive, the quieter country roads are ideal for exploring on bike. The historic city of Carlisle with Castle, Cathedral and shopping centre is 25 minutes north and the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall is easily accessible.
