Tucked away in the peaceful village, Spring Garden Cottage, Grizebeck is a beautifully restored 18th-century Lakeland farm worker’s cottage, offering a cosy and characterful retreat for couples seeking a romantic escape or families looking to slow down and reconnect. Set in a quieter corner of the Lake District, the cottage makes an ideal base for exploring the southern and western lakes, the Duddon Estuary, and the surrounding countryside.
Just two miles from the Cumbria Coastal Way, days out enjoying coastal walks, mountain views and open skies couldn’t be easier. Cyclists will love the quiet country lanes, while adventure seekers can head to nearby Grizedale Forest for mountain bike trails to suit all abilities. Within a short drive, you can enjoy beach days, lake cruises, or even take on England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike—perfect for couples or families sharing memorable experiences together.
Inside, the cottage blends traditional charm with modern comfort. Original beams and an inglenook fireplace with a wood-burning stove create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, perfectly complemented by contemporary furnishings. After a day of exploring, it’s a place you’ll be delighted to return to. On quieter days, relax beside the gentle beck flowing past the enclosed, sunny garden – ideal for a lazy barbecue – or stroll across the road to the dog friendly village pub for a delicious meal.
The cottage is entered through a porch into an inviting living room, where comfortable seating, including reclining chairs, is arranged around the wood-burning stove and HDTV with Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, satellite/cable channels and a DVD player. The well-equipped dining kitchen has everything needed to prepare relaxed family meals, including an electric oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine, to be enjoyed in the dining room.
As evening falls, two comfortable bedrooms await – a double room and a twin – each thoughtfully furnished to ensure a restful night’s sleep. The family bathroom includes a shower over the bath and hand basin.
All gas and electric, an initial supply of logs, bed linen and towels are included. A cot and highchair are available on request. Private parking for one car is provided at the front of the cottage and there is space to the rear of the cottage for storing bikes. To the front is an enclosed garden with a picnic bench, surrounded by flowers and herbs.
