Cosy and romantic is the theme for Shepherd Hut at Maes Uldale. Located next to Maes Tea Room, where if you don’t want to cook during your stay, guests can take advantage of delicious freshly baked treats and order mouth watering meals which can be enjoyed on the decking. The wood burning stove ensures the shepherds hut stays warm and toasty no matter the weather outside and the raised decking area allows you to catch the last of the suns rays with a breathtaking view over Skiddaw and the Caldbeck Fells.

Shepherds Hut at Mae’s is heated with electric heating throughout and has a wood burning stove: The compact open plan living area has comfy leather sofa in front of the wood burning stove which gives off a warming glow as you settle down to watch your favourite TV programs. Pre order an evening meal from the tea room next door or the kitchenette is equipped for preparing basic meals and has a sink, hob, fridge, microwave and toaster, your culinary delight can be eaten at the bistro table. As evening descends freshen up in the compact shower room before retiring to the comfortable king size bed.

All logs, electric, bed linen and towels included. Private parking for 1 car. There is a raised decking area to the front of the shepherds hut and a viewing platform with seating offering panoramic views over the Caldbeck fells.

Uldale nestles in the lower slopes of the Caldbeck Fells surrounded by rolling countryside and swooping valleys. The village of Caldbeck, which gives the surrounding fells their name, is 5 miles north east and Keswick just 10 miles south, take a walk over the ‘back o Skidda’ and be rewarded with breathtaking views of Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater beyond. Mae’s Tea Room also doubles up as an art gallery, enjoy coffee and cake whilst admiring the artwork. The area is known for its connections with the famous huntsman, the song ‘D’ye ken John Peel’ was written in 1836 in celebration of his achievements. Despite it being over 200 years since John Peel roamed the Uldale fells, they remain relatively unchanged and still provide a peaceful, tranquil haven within the Lake District. Bassenthwaite is just 4 miles away, hire a rowing boat, try paddleboarding, fish for your supper or simply picnic on the banks of the lake. Within a short drive is Dodd Wood, Ashness Bridge, The Lake District Wildlife Park, Whinlatter Forest with Go Ape and Armathwaite Hall with Spa.
