The 200-year-old property has been sympathetically refurbished, retaining many original features that complement the bright, modern interiors. Ideal for a group of friends or two families holidaying together, the house can also accommodate up to two additional children on fold-up beds by prior arrangement. With pubs, cafés, and independent shops just a short walk away, and countryside walks starting from the doorstep, guests can enjoy the area without needing to move the car from the private parking area.
The cottage is kept warm and cosy with central heating and a wood-burning stove. The lounge features comfortable seating arranged around a Smart TV and wood-burning stove, making it the perfect place to unwind with a book after a day outdoors. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped for preparing family meals, with an electric Rangemaster cooker, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. A separate utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.
After dinner, linger in the dining room to plan the next day’s adventure or enjoy a family games night with the selection of games provided. A convenient downstairs shower room completes the ground floor.
Upstairs, there are four generously sized bedrooms offering a restful night’s sleep. The master bedroom features a super king-size bed, which can be converted into twin beds on request. Two further bedrooms provide a king-size bed and a double bed, while the fourth bedroom is furnished with bunk beds. Two family bathrooms serve the first floor, one with a shower over the bath and the other with a separate shower cubicle.
To the rear of the property is a terraced garden with table and chairs for outdoor dining, with meals easily prepared on the barbecue or in the pizza oven. A private driveway provides parking for up to two cars, with EV charging available.
All gas, electricity, an initial supply of logs, bed linen, and towels are included. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and a cot and highchair are available on request.
The surrounding area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with excellent access to walking and cycling routes including the South Tyne Trail and sections of the Pennine Way. Rolling hills and open moorland frame the town, offering expansive views and excellent opportunities for wildlife spotting and landscape photography.
