Salvin House, Alston is located in the heart of England’s highest market town, set within the dramatic North Pennines National Landscape. This spacious and welcoming house offers a true home-from-home, thoughtfully equipped with modern conveniences including an EV charger, and furnished to a high standard to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.

The 200-year-old property has been sympathetically refurbished, retaining many original features that complement the bright, modern interiors. Ideal for a group of friends or two families holidaying together, the house can also accommodate up to two additional children on fold-up beds by prior arrangement. With pubs, cafés, and independent shops just a short walk away, and countryside walks starting from the doorstep, guests can enjoy the area without needing to move the car from the private parking area.

The cottage is kept warm and cosy with central heating and a wood-burning stove. The lounge features comfortable seating arranged around a Smart TV and wood-burning stove, making it the perfect place to unwind with a book after a day outdoors. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped for preparing family meals, with an electric Rangemaster cooker, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. A separate utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.

After dinner, linger in the dining room to plan the next day’s adventure or enjoy a family games night with the selection of games provided. A convenient downstairs shower room completes the ground floor.

Upstairs, there are four generously sized bedrooms offering a restful night’s sleep. The master bedroom features a super king-size bed, which can be converted into twin beds on request. Two further bedrooms provide a king-size bed and a double bed, while the fourth bedroom is furnished with bunk beds. Two family bathrooms serve the first floor, one with a shower over the bath and the other with a separate shower cubicle.

To the rear of the property is a terraced garden with table and chairs for outdoor dining, with meals easily prepared on the barbecue or in the pizza oven. A private driveway provides parking for up to two cars, with EV charging available.

All gas, electricity, an initial supply of logs, bed linen, and towels are included. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and a cot and highchair are available on request.

PLEASE NOTE the price is based on 8 people sharing, a charge of £20 per person is payable for the 9th and 10th person. A discount of 15% is offered for groups of less than 6 people. If booked for 6 people the bunk bedroom will be locked and not accessible.
