Old Belfield, Bowness on Windermere is in an elevated position above the town, with a view across the wooded valley to Lake Windermere from the master bedroom. Bordered by the lake to the west and scenic mountain walks to the east Old Belfield is the perfect base from which to enjoy all of the adventures the Lake District has to offer. Through the day the bustling village has numerous boutique, gift and climbing shops and a number of art galleries and attractions to explore, perhaps the most famous being The World of Beatrix Potter.
Old Belfield is a grade 2 listed building, dating back to 1800 and is furnished and equipped within keeping of the cottage. The lounge is the hub of the home with an ornate ceiling; a leather L shaped sofa is positioned around the Smart TV and wood burning stove, two swivel armchairs are positioned in the window to allow you to gaze out at the woodland where local wildlife and birds that frequent the garden can often be spotted. The galley kitchen is equipped with everything needed to rustle up a family dinner with electric oven and gas hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and microwave to be enjoyed in the separate dining room where the ornate ceiling continues and an open fire ensures you are kept warm and toasty.
As night draws in the first floor has 2 bedrooms offering a restful nights sleep. The master bedroom has a king size bed and window seat to take in the views to Lake Windermere and a sink to freshen up. There is a spacious single bedroom. The family bathroom has a shower over bath, hand basin and WC.
All gas, electric, bed linen and towels. Private parking for 2 cars. Cot and high chair available. To the front and side of the cottage is a patio area with table and chairs and the wooded garden with two lawned areas.
PLEASE NOTE Old Belfield is over 200 years old and is a grade 2 listed building. There are some uneven floors, and the stairs are steep and open. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties, and young children should be accompanied at all times. The wooded garden is great fun, but it is steep in places with some drops, and there are the usual mushrooms, berries, etc., please be sure to monitor children as needed.
