Milldam Cottage, Coniston is part of a row of whitewashed cottages, picture perfect, the cottages were immortalised by the renowned Lake District artist Alfred Heaton for all to enjoy. There is a quiet charm to this cottage, both inside and out, the chocolate box exterior promises tempting treats inside and as you step into the welcoming cottage you will not be disappointed. Furnished and equipped in keeping with the age of the cottage to provide a home from home, an Inglenook fireplace, uneven slate floor, beams, leather sofas mingle with wooden rocking chairs and an old sewing machine table makes an interesting TV stand, all adding to the charm of the cottage. Ideal at any time of year, the cottage has a garden with fell views and walks from the door promising adventure and vistas that don’t disappoint, return home in chillier months to a roaring wood burning stove, keeping you warm and toasty no matter what the weather outside. Set above the village of Coniston, accessed by a steep, winding track yet a short walk takes you to the village with shops, pubs and restaurants.
The entrance porch is perfect for storing muddy walking boots and walking gear. The characterful lounge has a leather sofa and armchairs positioned in front of the Inglenook fireplace, relax in front of the wood burning stove and TV. The fully equipped dining kitchen has everything needed to prepare a delicious meal with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine all to be enjoyed at the dining table.
As evening descends head upstairs where 2 characterful double bedrooms await, the first has a king size bed and overhead beams, the second has a double bed. Freshen up in the family bathroom with shower over bath, hand basin and WC.
All electric, bed linen, towels and initial supply of logs provided. Cot and stairgate available. Private parking for 2 cars 200 yards from the cottage. The terraced garden has table and chairs for al fresco dining, BBQ available for guests use and views across the fells.
Please note this property is accessed by a steep, rough track. It may also not be suitable for young children due to the steep stairs.
