Tucked away in the lush Eden Valley, in a peaceful corner of Cumbria, you will find the charming village of Little Strickland. This hidden gem is perfectly based for a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday, far enough from the ‘madding crowds’ of the Lake District but close enough to enjoy daily visits with Lake Ullswater and Haweswater both less than a 20 minute drive.

The quieter country roads of the Eden Valley are a walkers or cyclists delight, enjoy breathtaking views of lush green fields, meandering streams and the River Eden winding its way through the valley to the Solway Coast. Stop off at one of the many villages on route to enjoy refreshments in the village inns with most serving delicious home cooked food. For the adventure enthusiast Lake Ullswater and Haweswater with their surrounding fells are within a short drive with water sports, spectacular scenery and fell top walks in abundance. The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is also close by enabling you to explore two of England’s most scenic areas easily.

The River Eden is home to some of the best fishing in the area and with several golf courses and pony trekking centres near by there is plenty of activities on offer away from the fells. Penrith (8 miles), known locally as the Gateway to the Lakes, has a choice of supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, leisure centre, railway station and a number of boutique shops or head to Carlisle (40 miles), Cumbria’s capital city, and visit the historical castle, cathedral, theatre and Lanes Shopping Centre.
