Dating back to the 15th Century, Kirkstone Cottage Ambleside is said to be one of the oldest properties in Ambleside. Situated at the foot of Kirkstone Pass and opposite the Little House on the Bridge, the cottage is within walking distance of the village shops, pubs and restaurants. Perfect for a couple looking for a cosy, romantic cottage to use as a base for exploring the Lake District by car or on foot, leave your car parked in its private parking space and head to Stockghyll Falls, easily accessible from the door, as are a number of other walks.
Kirkstone Cottage has electric and under floor heating and comprises: Lounge with slate effect floor, wood burning stove for cosy nights in front of the TV and Wi-Fi. The dining/kitchen has everything needed to prepare a meal for 2 with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and dining table. The bathroom has a roll top bath, shower cubical, hand basin and WC.
Stairs lead from the lounge to the first floor double bedroom, overlooking the Little House of the Bridge, attractively furnished in pine.
All electric, towels and bed linen included. Logs are not provided but can be purchased locally. Cot available. Parking space for a small car.
Ambleside sits midway between Bowness on Windermere and Grasmere on the banks of Lake Windermere. The village is popular with visitors to the Lake District due to the high number of shops, art galleries, pubs, restaurants and attractions. Hop aboard the ferry and enjoy a scenic trip around the lake, stop off at Windermere and Lakeside to explore the different towns and attractions. Rydal Mount and Brockhole Visitor attractions are both within a short drive and Hayes Garden Centre is popular with locals and visitors. Ambleside is an ideal base to explore the Lake District with Windermere a short drive south, Grasmere to the north, from where you can explore the Langdales with some of the best walks in the Lake District, or continue on to Keswick less than half an hours drive or travel over Kirkstone Pass to explore Lake Ullswater.
