Braithwaite is a charming village nestled in the heart of the Lake District just a stone’s throw from the popular market town of Keswick. Surrounded by stunning natural beauty, including rolling hills and lush forests all watched over by the majestic Skiddaw. There are numerous hiking trails within a short drive of Braithwaite: Catbells, Maiden Moor, Castle Crag to name a few, offer a less challenging walk but the spectacular views of Derwentwater are as rewarding as any of the more challenging fells.

Whinlatter Forest is an adrenaline junkies’ delight with a number of mountain bike trails to explore, or if you have a head for heights, Go Ape is a tree top adventure for the whole family, younger children will enjoy the enchantment of the Gruffalo trail and all within a short drive.

Hill Cottage is a 5 minute drive from Derwentwater and therefore Braithwaite provides nearby opportunities for boating, kayaking, and paddleboarding. It's an ideal spot for a leisurely day on the water. At Bassenthwaite (about 4 miles away) there is a sailing club.

Enjoy the warmth and hospitality of Braithwaite's local pubs, where you can savour traditional British dishes, relax by the fire and mingle with friendly locals whilst sampling a local ale. The village also has a charming tea shop by the bus stop (the bus service has good connections to Keswick, Penrith, Cockermouth and beyond).

The market town of Keswick is a 5 minute drive or a pleasant walk, where you'll find shops, galleries, museums, attractions for young and old and a bustling market square with a twice-weekly market, also a cinema and Theatre by the Lake – a star attraction. Fitz Park and Hope Park offer recreational activities including tennis courts, crazy golf and putting. It's also a great place to stock up on supplies for your outdoor adventures.

Braithwaite, in the heart of the Lake District, offers a serene and captivating holiday experience. Whether you're seeking adventure in the great outdoors or a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Braithwaite has something for everyone.
