Set around a cobbled courtyard and surrounded by gardens these 4 holiday cottages have been converted from the former farm buildings to provide stylish home from home accommodation in a tranquil setting. Nestled in the Eden Valley and surrounded by rolling countryside there are walks from the door to nearby villages, many with a village pub filled with friendly locals and real ales.
The once working 17th century farm has been sympathetically renovated by the current owners retaining original features that uniquely make up each cottage. The owners eco friendly ethos ensures everything is thought of to reduce their impact upon the environment whilst maintaining the stylish feel of the cottages. Each of the cottages has its own private garden area with outdoor table and chairs to allow al fresco dining and shared use of the main garden with seating subtly placed to enjoy the views or peace and quiet. Guests are invited to use the shared BBQ and laundry room with washer/dryer. The owners provide a warm welcome with some home made treats and flowers picked from the garden on arrival, they are on hand to help you make the most of your holiday and are happy to advise on places to visit, eat and drink.
The former barn has upside down style accommodation to take in the views across the garden and surrounding countryside.
The cottage has a double and single bedroom on the ground floor ideal for a small family or friends taking time away to catch up. Also on the ground floor there is a small but perfectly formed shower room.
The first floor open plan living area retains its original beams and is full of character. The windows frame the view to Renwick Fell where the changing of the seasons can be observed by regular visitors. Comfy seating is placed around the Smart TV for lazy evenings catching up on your favourite programs. The dining kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare a home cooked meal with an electric oven and induction hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher and microwave which can be enjoyed together at the dining table.
The cottage has all electric, gas, logs, bed linen and towels included. Two medium sized dogs welcome. Patio with garden furniture to the front of the cottage. Guests have access to a communal freezer shared between Geltsdale Hows, Hazelrigg and Inglewood if required.
The cottage is tucked away in a peaceful, rural location just over a mile from Kirkoswald. The village has two popular village inns, The Featherstone Arms and The Crown Inn both promising a warm welcome and a convenience store. The market town of Penrith, known as the gateway to the Lakes, is 10 miles away with a wealth of boutique shops, pubs, restaurants and take aways. Lake Ullswater and the majestic fells are less than a half hours drive. The location is ideal for exploring Cumbria, being only minutes from the motorway Carlisle with castle, cathedral and shopping centre and Hadrian’s Wall are easily reached, as is a day out in Kendal leading onto the southern lakes of Windermere and Coniston. With the Eden Valley being on your doorsteps leisurely walks along the River Eden provide beautiful scenery or explore the quieter country roads by bike taking in the miles of rolling countryside. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy fishing along the river subject to licence, or there are a number of golf courses and pony trekking places close by.
