Located on the owners working hill farm 2 miles south east of Bassenthwaite, the upside down cottage has the open plan living area upstairs to make the most of the breathtaking fell views, exposed beams adds to the traditional character. Surrounded by peace and tranquillity, this is the perfect base to escape city living and recharge your batteries, relax in the garden shared with guests from Bassenthwaite Farm Cottage (rent together to sleep up to 9 people) on a summers evening whilst watching the sun set or keep warm and toasty in front of the electric stove with your favourite TV programme on chillier evenings, it is the perfect all year round base to reconnect with nature and explore the beautiful countryside on the doorstep.

The ground floor bedrooms are accessed via a few steps from the hall the double bedroom has dual aspect with fell views from each window. The twin bedroom has zip link beds which can convert to a super king on request, making the cottage perfect for a family or 2 couples holidaying together, there is also a handy wash basin for freshening up before retiring for the evening. The family bathroom has shower over bath, hand basin and WC.

As you head upstairs to the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner your attention is immediately drawn to the characterful beams and the windows framing the fells, beckoning you to get out and explore. The comfy sofa and armchairs surround the electric coal effect fire and TV, settle down to your favourite film on the DVD player. The kitchen area is equipped with electric cooker, fridge, freezer and microwave, everything you need is there to rustle up an evening meal to be enjoyed at the dining table.

The cottage is heated by night storage heaters and all electric, bed linen and towels are provided. Private parking for 2 cars. One well behaved dog welcome. Shared use of the garden with Bassenthwaite Farm Cottage guests. Shared use of a washing machine and tumble dryer located in one of the outhouses.

Bassenthwaite takes its name from the lake which is within a short walk of the village and is nestled below Skiddaw which provides a scenic backdrop. The village has a traditional pub serving local ales and home cooked food. Bassenthwaite is often sought after for its wide array of attractions on the doorstep. Dodd Wood and Ashness Bridge offer some of the best scenic walks within the Lake District, and the nesting ospreys can be observed from here or across the lake at Whinlatter Forest also home to Go Ape, mountain bike and Gruffalo trails. Children young and old with a love for animals will enjoy the Lake District Wildlife Park, finish your day with fine dining at the award winning Armathwaite Hall and spa. Within a short drive are the nearby villages of Ireby and Uldale along with the market town of Keswick with outdoor wear and some of your favourite high street shops, pubs and restaurants along with the shores of Derwentwater, hire a rowing boat or explore the lake at a more leisurely pace on a cruise.
