For those with a love of horses, Curlew Cottage Eldwick, is located on a working cattle and sheep farm and horse livery stables. The barn, originally used to house the milking cows, is now a converted, characterful home from home retaining its original beams and located in the livery yard. From the cottage and garden guests can watch the horses coming and going, being groomed and may even catch the visiting blacksmith shoeing the horses.
Being all on one level, the cottage is ideal for those who struggle with stairs, a ramp allows wheelchair access into the cottage and the wide doorways allow guests to easily move around. Located at the start of the Dales Way, which passes the cottage, there are plenty of walks and cycle routes from the door. The cottage is set back from the road and the nearest village is a mile away, the cottage is not recommended for those without their own transport.
The ground floor level cottage offers specious accommodation for 4 people and has an open plan living area, the wood burning stove ensures the cottage stays warm and cosy, with seating around the TV, books, board games and children’s toys are provided for days when you prefer to stay at home. The cottage also has oil fired central heating.
The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare your evening meal with an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and Nespresso coffee maker. The breakfast bar provides an informal area to enjoy breakfast. The separate dining room with comfy seating and dining table is perfect for enjoying meals together or lingering with a cuppa whilst you plan your day’s adventure. As evening descends retire to one of the two spacious bedrooms, a double and a twin bedroom with a cot. The family bathroom has a shower over the bath, basin and WC.
Heating, first large basket of logs free, bed linen and towels are provided. Full sized cot, travel cot and highchair available. Parking for 1 car next to the cottage with further parking for 1 car available in the yard. Garden with garden furniture, please note this can be overlooked from the yard.
Eldwick nestles in the picturesque countryside of West Yorkshire, 2 miles north of Bingley on the Baildon Moor, 800 acres of open access moorland. The area is known for its wide open landscapes and stone built houses. The village has a pub serving delicious meals and local ales and the surrounding villages offer plenty of places to shop, eat and drink. The famous Bingley Five Rise locks is just over a mile away, as is the Leeds/Bradford canal. The towns of Ilkley and Skipton, the gateway to the Dales, are 25 minute and 30 minute drive away respectively. Close to Bronte Country, a visit to the main street and parsonage in Haworth to see where the Bronte sisters once lived is a must when in the area. The cities of Leeds and Bradford are within an easy drive or train ride away for shops, bars, restaurants and activities to entertain all ages. The renowned Settle to Carlisle railway line is also easily accessible, will you be lucky enough to catch a steam train to Carlisle to explore the historic city.
