Surrounded by iconic Wainwright fells, Chamberlain Cottage is a charming whitewashed cottage which blends seamlessly into its stunning setting. Original features including exposed oak beams, a beautiful stone staircase and period furnishings have been thoughtfully preserved, while the cosy cottage ensures a relaxing stay after a day exploring the surrounding countryside. The mature cottage garden is a peaceful haven where you can enjoy breakfast with birdsong, watch local wildlife or simply unwind as the evening sun casts a golden glow across the fells.
From the doorstep, a wealth of walking routes awaits. Hartsop Dodd, High Street, Angle Tarn and Hayeswater are all within easy reach, while the tranquil shores of Brothers Water (and its Inn) are just a stroll away. A scenic 2.5-mile walk leads to the picturesque village of Patterdale, where you can reward yourself with a hearty meal or refreshing drink at the White Lion Inn or Patterdale Hotel before returning through some of the Lake District's most breathtaking scenery.
Step inside to discover a welcoming dining lounge, full of character with exposed beams, timber-panelled walls and wonderful views across the garden towards the surrounding fells. Comfortable seating provides the perfect place to relax after a day's adventure. Please note there is no terrestrial television, but guests can stream services such as Netflix or Prime by using their mobile phone as a hotspot.
The well-equipped kitchen has everything needed to prepare anything from a hearty breakfast before heading onto the fells to a home-cooked evening meal, including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. A separate utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer, with plenty of space for muddy boots, waterproofs and walking equipment.
Upstairs, two inviting bedrooms offer a peaceful night's sleep. The master bedroom features a king-size bed with delightful views towards Hartsop Dodd, while the second bedroom has three single beds, making the cottage ideal for families or groups of friends exploring the Lake District together. There is a family bathroom with bath and hand basin. (N.B. There is no shower.)
Electric, bed linen and towels are included. Cot and highchair are available on request. There is parking for one car via a steep incline, with additional parking conveniently available in the car park opposite the cottage. The mature garden is furnished for outdoor dining and relaxing.
Please note the cottage does not have Wi-Fi or terrestrial television, making it the perfect opportunity to switch off, reconnect with nature and embrace the slower pace of Lakeland life.

Hartsop is one of the Lake District's hidden gems, tucked away amongst the magnificent Ullswater fells yet perfectly placed for exploring the wider National Park. From challenging Wainwright ascents to gentle lakeside walks, this area is a paradise for walkers of every ability. Just a few minutes' drive away, Ullswater offers opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and cruises aboard the famous Ullswater Steamers. Visit the spectacular Aira Force waterfall, enjoy waterside cafés and traditional country inns, or discover the charming villages dotted around England's second largest lake. From Glenridding it’s relatively easy to reach the path up to Helvellyn. Kirkstone Pass provides a scenic route to Ambleside, Windermere and Grasmere, all within 30 minutes, while Keswick and Penrith are equally accessible for shopping, restaurants, galleries and attractions.
