Pull on your walking boots and step straight into one of the Lake District's most spectacular landscapes, Chamberlain Cottage, Hartsop is a traditional 17th-century Grade II listed cottage offering an unforgettable retreat for walkers, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone seeking peace amongst the mountains.

Surrounded by iconic Wainwright fells, Chamberlain Cottage is a charming whitewashed cottage which blends seamlessly into its stunning setting. Original features including exposed oak beams, a beautiful stone staircase and period furnishings have been thoughtfully preserved, while the cosy cottage ensures a relaxing stay after a day exploring the surrounding countryside. The mature cottage garden is a peaceful haven where you can enjoy breakfast with birdsong, watch local wildlife or simply unwind as the evening sun casts a golden glow across the fells.

From the doorstep, a wealth of walking routes awaits. Hartsop Dodd, High Street, Angle Tarn and Hayeswater are all within easy reach, while the tranquil shores of Brothers Water (and its Inn) are just a stroll away. A scenic 2.5-mile walk leads to the picturesque village of Patterdale, where you can reward yourself with a hearty meal or refreshing drink at the White Lion Inn or Patterdale Hotel before returning through some of the Lake District's most breathtaking scenery.

Step inside to discover a welcoming dining lounge, full of character with exposed beams, timber-panelled walls and wonderful views across the garden towards the surrounding fells. Comfortable seating provides the perfect place to relax after a day's adventure. Please note there is no terrestrial television, but guests can stream services such as Netflix or Prime by using their mobile phone as a hotspot.

The well-equipped kitchen has everything needed to prepare anything from a hearty breakfast before heading onto the fells to a home-cooked evening meal, including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. A separate utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer, with plenty of space for muddy boots, waterproofs and walking equipment.

Upstairs, two inviting bedrooms offer a peaceful night's sleep. The master bedroom features a king-size bed with delightful views towards Hartsop Dodd, while the second bedroom has three single beds, making the cottage ideal for families or groups of friends exploring the Lake District together. There is a family bathroom with bath and hand basin. (N.B. There is no shower.)

Electric, bed linen and towels are included. Cot and highchair are available on request. There is parking for one car via a steep incline, with additional parking conveniently available in the car park opposite the cottage. The mature garden is furnished for outdoor dining and relaxing.

Please note the cottage does not have Wi-Fi or terrestrial television, making it the perfect opportunity to switch off, reconnect with nature and embrace the slower pace of Lakeland life.
It may also not be suitable for those with mobility problems, please check with us prior to booking.
