Bassenthwaite Farm Cottage is a ground floor, traditional cottage, converted from a 17th century barn, located on the owners working hill farm 2 miles south east of Bassenthwaite. The tranquil setting is ideal for experiencing the beauty of rural life in the Lake District. The cottage is furnished and equipped to a high standard providing a home from home in a peaceful location, perfect for escaping city living and recharging. Exposed beams add to the traditional ambience of the cottage and the warming glow of the wood burner beckons you to snuggle up in front of the TV on chilly evenings. The cottage can be rented together with Fell View Cottage to sleep up to 9 guests and both cottages share a garden, perfect for soaking up the suns rays or watching the sun set over the fells with a glass of wine on long, lazy summer days.

Accessed from the farm yard the cottage has a welcoming porch surrounded by potted plants and a garden bench, linger a while with your morning cuppa allowing the sounds of the countryside to engulf you. The open plan lounge and kitchen effortlessly combines modern day living with traditional character. The comfy sofa and armchair are positioned to capture the warmth from wood burning stove whilst watching TV or catch up on the latest film releases on the DVD player. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare a meal with electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer and microwave. The dining room is off the kitchen, plan your days adventure over breakfast or enjoy family games in the evening at the dining table. The characterful beams continue into the bedrooms with a double bedroom and upstairs is a family bedroom with double and single bed and convenient wash basin. The family bathroom has a shower over bath, hand basin and WC.

The cottage has night storage heaters and all electric, coal, logs, bed linen and towels are provided. Private parking for 2 cars. Cot and highchair available. There is a bench surrounded by potted plants to the front of the cottage and shared use of a garden at the other side of the farm yard. Please note that whilst the cottage is all ground floor there are a number of steps to the bedrooms. Shared use of a washing machine and tumble dryer located in one of the outhouses.

Bassenthwaite takes its name from the lake which is within a short walk of the village and is nestled below Skiddaw which provides a scenic backdrop. The village has a traditional pub serving local ales and home cooked food. Bassenthwaite is often sought after for its wide array of attractions on the doorstep. Dodd Wood and Ashness Bridge offer some of the best scenic walks within the Lake District, and the nesting ospreys can be observed from here or across the lake at Whinlatter Forest also home to Go Ape, mountain bike and Gruffalo trails. Children young and old with a love for animals will enjoy the Lake District Wildlife Park, finish your day with fine dining at the award winning Armathwaite Hall and spa. Within a short drive are the nearby villages of Ireby and Uldale along with the market town of Keswick with outdoor wear and some of your favourite high street shops, pubs and restaurants along with the shores of Derwentwater, hire a rowing boat or explore the lake at a more leisurely pace on a cruise.
