The area lends itself to peaceful breaks away, being just off the popular beaten tracks of the Lake District but close to many of the popular tourist hotspots such as Ullswater, Keswick, Grasmere, Ambleside and Bowness on Windermere. There are a range of activities on your doorstep, the Rheged Centre with cafes, galleries and shops is a 5 minute drive, Dalemain House and Gardens and the Alpaca Centre are 15 minutes drive and Lake Ullswater itself with lake cruise and watersports is 10 minutes away.

The outdoor enthusiast can enjoy an abundance of walks from the door with woodlands, Great Mell Fell leading to Aira Force and the Caldbeck Fells all within easy reach of your holiday retreat. The coast 2 coast cycle route passes the door and watersports on Lake Ullswater are within a 10 minute drive. After your day’s exploring, return to the peace and tranquillity of Hutton John where you can relax, prepare a delicious home cooked meal in the comfort of your well equipped kitchen and reflect on the day’s adventures together. On the nights you prefer not to cook, Dacre and Penruddock each have a village inn serving home cooked meals and local ales, both within 3 miles. The cottage is on the owners 550 acre estate close to Lake Ullswater and has been lovingly maintained with the emphasis on environmentally eco-friendly materials that lend themselves to the surroundings and provide a modern home from home from which to enjoy a peaceful break away.

Sheltered within the walled gardens of the Estate, The Gardeners Cottage is a luxury cottage for 2 people wishing to enjoy a relaxing break away in a peaceful setting. With all modern comforts this cottage provides everything needed to ensure your stay is truly memorable no matter when you choose to holiday. The balcony overlooks the garden and woodland, catch up on the latest novel or linger over your morning cuppa with the birds happily chirping away being the only noise you can hear. After a day’s adventuring in the beautiful Ullswater fells on your doorstep, dine al fresco on the patio surrounded by peace and tranquillity before soaking in the wood-fired hot tub. As the nights start to draw in and the air turns chilly, settle in front of the wood burning stove and watch the mesmerising flames giving off a warming glow.

The cottage has oil central heating and comprises: The light and airy, spacious lounge has picture windows with views across the garden and a feature stone wall with fireplace, this is the perfect room to snuggle on the comfy sofas in front to the TV engulfed by the warmth of the ‘Jack and Jill’ wood burning stove. Enjoy a leisurely meal in the dining room with a beamed ceiling, feature stone wall and ‘Jack and Jill’ wood burning stove. The beams continue into the kitchen which has everything needed to prepare a delicious home cooked meal with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. For those who need to keep in touch with the office there is a handy study. The wet room has a handy seat and WC.

As evening descends the spacious master bedroom awaits with king size bed, sofa and balcony with table and chairs, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or starting your day with a morning cuppa. There is an en-suite shower room with hand basin and WC.

All oil, electric, bed linen, towels, dressing gowns, bath house toiletries and initial supply of logs provided. Cot and highchair available. Private parking for 1 car. One well behaved dog welcome. Private patio area with wood-fired hot tub and dining furniture overlooking the walled garden and woodland.
