Combining traditional features with contemporary modern day living Stable Cottage Greystoke Gill is the place to retreat to when you want to recharge your batteries in a peaceful corner of Cumbria. As the name suggests, the pretty sandstone cottage sits in a cobbled courtyard and has been converted from former stables. Original arched doorways open into a beautifully presented, well equipped cottage, where attention to detail is apparent in every nook and cranny with a warm and welcoming ambience evident in every room. After a days adventure in the Lake District the cottage beckons your return, snuggle in front of the warming log burning stove on chillier days or relax in the sunny enclosed garden on a summers evening.
As you enter the cottage the character is immediately evident with exposed stone walls supporting a canopy of beams and contemporary furnishings bringing the scene to life. The cosy lounge has sofas arranged around the wood burning stove and Smart TV, relax with friends and family in front of your favorite TV program or catch up on the latest film releases with streaming services or old favorites on the DVD player. Off the lounge is a light sunroom, escape with a good book or just enjoy some quiet time. The dining kitchen is the hub of the home, gather together and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal cooked in the well equipped kitchen with a double oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The dining table comfortably seats 6, linger over your morning coffee whilst you plan your next adventure. With a Belfast pot sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, the utility room maintains the character of the cottage and also has a handy ground floor toilet.
The character continues to the bedrooms; the master bedroom with a king size bed has exposed stone walls, furnished in oak with complimenting soft furnishings. The second double bedroom has exposed stone walls. The bunk bedroom is perfect for children to relax and unwind in their own space. The spacious family bathroom has a shower over bath, hand basin and WC.
Oil central heating, electric, initial supply of logs, bed linen and towels included. Private parking for up to 3 cars and a bike store available on request. Cot and highchair available on request. Well behaved pets are welcome, though there may be an extra charge for more than one dog, please check with us before making a reservation for more than 1 dog. Private enclosed garden to the rear of the cottage with tables, chairs and brick-built charcoal BBQ with views over the fields beyond.
The hamlet of Greystoke Gill is located in the picturesque Eden Valley. The picturesque village of Greystoke is less than a mile away with village shop, pub and outdoor swimming pool. Just 5 miles to the east is Penrith, known locally as the gateway to the Lake District with Ullswater, Keswick and Ambleside easily reached. The quiet country roads are perfect for exploring by bike and for those looking for biking thrills the Ullswater fells and mountain bike trails of Whinlatter are within a short drive. Ullswater offers watersport adventures from sailing, paddle boarding and canoeing to name a few or simply relax on board the steamers and sail around the lake. Within a short drive of Greystoke Gill are a number of country pubs one of which is Michelin starred, many serving home cooked meals and serving up locally produced ales, or the bustling market town of Penrith has numerous shops, pubs, restaurants, take aways and supermarkets. This is the perfect base if you want to feel you are in the middle of nowhere yet within a 5 minute drive you are surrounded by amenities and attractions.
