Kirk House Longtown is a spacious Grade II listed house with everything needed for a break away at any time of year, with something for everyone family and friends can holiday together in spacious accommodation with everything needed to make your stay memorable. With a choice of reception rooms guests can relax with a good book, watch TV, listen to music or play games with the kids without worrying you are spoiling anyone’s enjoyment. Located away from the tourist hot spots of the Lake District yet there is so much to see and do within a short drive, the shores of Lake Ullswater and the Solway Coast are less than an hours drive, the Scottish Borders and renowned Gretna Green and outlet village are 10 miles west and the border city of Carlisle is 15 miles south.
Summer months are best spent in the extensive lawned gardens, play a game of badminton, boules or croquet, and once you’ve worked up an appetite rustle up a family feast on the gas BBQ provided, always a hit on a summers evening. The perfect all year round retreat, the open fires and wood burning stoves ensure you are kept warm and cosy whilst watching a movie from the DVD library or enjoying one of the board games provided.
Within a short drive there are tennis courts, fishing and golf courses for the sporty guest. Those looking for a cultural escape Hadrian’s Wall and the historic city of Carlisle has a Castle and Cathedral as well as shops, bars and restaurants, both within an easy drive.
Kirk House is situated in a courtyard next to Kirkandrews Tower and has been converted from a barn and two cottages to now provide luxurious accommodation for a group of friends or for family gatherings. It is equally suited to birthday and anniversary celebrations, stag and hen parties, clubs and groups and much more.
With oil central heating throughout, guests are welcomed to the house via the spacious hall with wood burning stove, table for either pool or table tennis and main staircase to the first floor. The study has an open fire and seating for up to 8 people, widescreen Freesat TV and DVD player. The sitting room has comfy seating for 8 people around the open fire, radio/iPod dock. The dining room has seating for 15 people and views over the river. The well equipped kitchen has everything needed to cook up a storm with an electric range cooker, larder fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer and gives access to the back door. There is a ground floor bedroom with super king size bed and en-suite shower room. Cloakroom/bar area with cupboards, mini fridge, dishwasher and WC.
The first floor has 6 bedrooms, 3 king size, 2 twin and a single. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, one with shower over bath. There are a further 2 family bathrooms, one with shower over bath and the other with bath and shower cubicle.
All oil, electric, bed linen and towels are provided. Cot and highchair available. Ample private parking. Large gardens with garden furniture, sun loungers and BBQ.
Located for exploring the beautiful county of Cumbria and the Scottish Borders, Longtown nestles on the Scottish Border just 10 miles from Carlisle and with the northern fells of the Lake District less than an hours drive. The Solway Coast both along the Cumbrian and Scottish shoreline offer beaches for days out with the kids, linger into the evening and marvel at the stunning sunsets as the sun disappears over the horizon. The area is steeped in history; explore historical houses and gardens, march like a Roman soldier along the World Heritage Hadrian’s Wall and visit some of the museums with Roman artifacts or visit Carlisle Castle where Mary Queen of the Scots was imprisoned. River walks along the River Esk lead to Longtown where there are shops, pubs and cafes. The border city of Carlisle is a 15 minute drive with a wealth of shops, bars, restaurants, take aways, cinema and visitor attractions, along with a number of parks and soft play centres. There really is something for everyone, no matter your age, to enjoy in this exquisite corner of England.
