Jesmond Cottage is warm and cosy with gas central heating and comprises; Dining/sitting room with TV, DVD player, two 2-seater comfy sofas around an electric ‘wood burner’ style heater set into a large slate fireplace; with dining table for four in the sunny bay window overlooking the green.

The recently fitted kitchen has a countertop electric oven and grill, inset electric hob, fridge and freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Double bedroom with king sized bed. Bathroom with shower over bath, wash hand basin, shaver socket and WC.

All gas, electric, bed linen, bath towels, kitchen towel, tea towel provided. Patio table and chairs. Private parking for 1 car.

Great Corby is a charming village nestled in north east Cumbria, on high banks above the River Eden in the upper reaches of the ‘Eden Valley’. Here Jesmond Cottage is perfectly situated in the centre of the village over-looking the village green and opposite The Queen Inn and the Great Corby Brewery, both of which have an excellent reputation.

Great Corby is within 20 miles of 2 National Parks, the ‘Lake District National Park’ – a World Heritage Site and ‘Northumberland National Park’ and 1 UNESCO GeoPark the ‘North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, making it a perfect location for those who love nature and experiencing the great outdoors.

The area is a delight for Historians too, with ancient forts and stretches of Hadrian’s Wall close by; the historic border city of Carlisle (6 miles), with an 11th century castle and 12th century Cathedral. Whilst pretty market town Brampton with its weekly market and boutique shops (also 6 miles) has Lanercost Priory nearby.

Just a 20 minute walk from Jesmond Cottage, across Corby Bridge a railway viaduct high above the River Eden, leads to Wetheral Village with ancient Priory ruins, caves and river walk. Here you’ll also find the village shop with its café and Post Office, restaurant, inns and a hotel with leisure facilities.

From the lovely little station at Wetheral trains run into Carlisle, or onto many interesting railway stops along the route to Newcastle. Of course being a mile off the A69 both cities are in easy reach by car for a night at the theatre, cinema and perfect for retail therapy with well known brand retailers plus many independent shops and the famous Metro Centre is accessible too.

If golf and fishing is high on your breakaway agenda, then there are a number of golf courses and fishing lakes within a short drive.

Additionally with the Solway Coast with its nature reserves so close, and near to the Scottish Borders, Great Corby makes for a perfect base for exploration.
