Daweswood Patterdale Ullswater is approached along a magical, woodland driveway where the view opens up onto the Edwardian Arts and Crafts house built in 1909 by renowned builders G H Pattinson from local materials. Paying homage to its origins the current owners have furnished and equipped the cottage to a high standard with traditional colours and William Morris textiles combined with modern bathrooms and the latest appliances to form a warm and cosy home from home suitable for 2 families or a group of friends holidaying together. There are 3 acres of gardens and enchanted woodlands that surround the house and lead directly onto the fells, a children’s delight, play hide and seek, search out the elves, go hunting for local wildlife including red squirrels, deer and nocturnal badgers or simply enjoy woodland walks dappled in the summer sunshine (children should be supervised at all times).

The cottage has oil central heating and comprises: A stone porch with studded door leads to the wood panelled entrance hall with stained glass windows and magnificent staircase. The living room has a comfy sofa and leather armchairs arranged around the open fire with wooden mantlepiece or relax in the alcove bay window with cushioned seating and take in the view over the woodland, Smart TV with DVD player and large selection of DVD’s to keep you entertained. The dining room is the social hub of the house, catch up on your days adventures over dinner at the dining table or enjoy one of the many board games or books provided, whilst the wood burning stove set in an ornate wooden fireplace keeps your warm and toasty, there is a Chesterfield sofa and 2 armchairs perfect for pre dinner drinks, or simply just relaxing after a day on the fells, the leaded windows look out to the woodland and there is a access to the covered terrace. The well equipped kitchen with a stone floor has everything needed to rustle up a delicious home cooked meal including a Belfast sink, Rangemaster double over and gas hob, large American fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There is a laundry cupboard with washing machine and tumble dryer and a separate boot room, perfect for drying wet clothing and muddy boots after a days exploring. The breakfast room is kept warm with the wood burning stove, also has a stone floor and a rustic table for 6 people, the perfect place to start your day with a cuppa. Cloakroom with WC and hand basin.

The first floor is equally impressive with a chandelier made from antlers, a nod to its Edwardian hunting lodge history and 5 bedrooms decorated in character of its Arts and Crafts heritage. The spacious master bedroom has a king size bed, a decorative fireplace and views over the garden and woodland with an en-suite bathroom with roll top bath, separate shower cubicle, Jack and Jill sinks and WC. Second double bedroom with king size bed looks out to the monkey puzzle tree, 2 steps lead down to a large dressing room. The third double bedroom at the rear of the house looks over the covered pergola to the fells beyond, there is an en-suite shower room with hand basin and WC. The fourth double bedroom has views over the garden. The twin bedroom has a sloping ceiling and views out to the woodlands. There are 2 further family bathrooms, one with a shower over a clawfoot bath with hand basin and WC, the other also has a shower over the bath, hand basin and WC.

All gas, oil, electric, logs, bed linen, towels and WiFi provided. Cot and high chair available. Ample private parking. Three acres of garden and woodland to explore with undercover terrace, lit pergola and patio with BBQ and furniture for al fresco dining.
