Cosy Cottage Ambleside is a traditional Lake District cottage that really does live up to its name, step into the open plan living area, light the wood burning stove, cook up a delicious meal and relax in the cosy ambience of the cottage. With walks from the door, head off to explore some of the best walks in the Lake District surrounding the village which draws visitors from far and wide. When darkness descends a short walk will take you to the hub of Ambleside where nights at the cinema and fine dining await, finish your evening chatting to the friendly locals in one of the many inns before returning to enjoy a refreshing nights sleep in one of the two comfy bedrooms.
The cottage is laid out over three floors, has gas central heating and is accessed by an open porch to the open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. Comfy sofa and armchairs are positioned around the wood burning stove and Smart TV, or relax with a good book whilst listening to your favourite tunes on the DAB radio. The breakfast bar and kitchen work tops are made with green Lakeland slate adding to the character and is fully equipped to rustle up mouthwatering meals, the electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, washer/dryer, microwave and dishwasher.
To the first floor is a double bedroom with king size bed and window seat offering views to Loughrigg Fell. The modern family bathroom has a bath, shower cubicle and WC.
Continue to the second floor characterful master bedroom suite with king size bed (this can be converted to twin beds on request) with en-suite shower room with hand basin and WC.
All gas, electric, bed linen and towels provided. Cot and high chair available. Wi-Fi available. Parking permit for nearby car park provided.
Ambleside is renowned for its stunning surroundings. The town is situated at the northern tip of the shimmering Lake Windermere, which provides a tranquil backdrop for lakeside strolls, boat rides, and water sports. Nearby fells and peaks, including the iconic Wansfell Pike and Loughrigg Fell, beckon hikers and climbers with their panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Visitors can explore the pristine landscapes through a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, and water sports. The nearby fells, including the iconic Fairfield Horseshoe, offer an array of scenic walking trails with awe-inspiring views. The town centre is a delightful blend of charming streets and lanes filled with boutique shops, art galleries, and cafes. You can enjoy shopping for unique souvenirs or savouring delicious local cuisine in one of the many restaurants and pubs.
Lake Windermere provides opportunities for water based fun. You can take leisurely boat rides from Waterhead to Windermere and Lakeside, hire a kayak, or even try your hand at paddleboarding, allowing you to appreciate the serene beauty of the lake from a different perspective. Fishing and swimming are also popular pastimes for those seeking relaxation by the water. Ambleside is located midway between Windermere and Grasmere, an ideal base from which to explore these popular Lakeland villages. For those without their own transport, jump aboard one of the many busses passing through the village ferrying visitors to popular destinations such as Keswick, Penrith and Kendal or head to Windermere train station to explore further afield.
