Bank House Longtown is the property for you if you are looking for accommodation for the extended family or a group of friends in a tranquil setting surrounded by rolling countryside with your own private swimming pool and snooker room. The spacious Edwardian House really has everything needed for a fantastic holiday. As you approach the imposing building you know immediately you are in for a memorable stay, the large manicured gardens with ponds are surrounded by rolling countryside and perfect for allowing the children to run about within sight of the house or woodland leading to the pool and natural pond feature. Make your way into the characterful building, recently refurbished but retaining its Edwardian features, including large spacious rooms with beamed ceilings, paneled walls and Inglenook fireplaces and it hits you, this is where memories will be made.
With 15 spacious bedrooms, 2 on the ground floor, and a lift servicing the first floor, everyone young and old alike will be able to enjoy quality time together. The owners really have thought of everything, there is no need to leave the accommodation during your stay, with a cinema room with projector, games room with snooker table, board games and table football, to rooms where you can escape to enjoy some quiet time such as the study and relax with a book. Head outside to enjoy outdoor games such as badminton, croquet, table tennis and boules or relax in the hot tub or take a swim in the owner’s outdoor swimming pool (please note this is not heated and available May to September, it is reserved for the owners use between 4 and 6pm daily) or explore the surrounding woodland or take leisurely walks along the nearby River Esk.
Located 3.5 miles north of Longtown on the Scottish Border and less than 6 miles from Gretna Green, a popular wedding destination where bride and groom can still get married over the anvil, Bank House Longtown is popular with wedding parties and ideal for pre wedding celebrations or hen/stag parties. The spacious accommodation is also perfect for conferences, club meet ups, keep fit weekends, golfers, fishermen, shooting parties, reunions, the list is endless.
Heated by oil central heating and open fires you are kept warm and cosy even on chilly evenings. The welcoming entrance hall has a writing desk, open fire and chest containing games and jigsaws. Relax in front of the open log fire in the sitting room with seating for 10 plus 7 on window seats and occasional chairs. The oak room is the hub of the house with sofa and chairs for 17 people with 9 on window seats, grand piano and a wide screen Smart TV with DVD player, home cinema system with 8 foot automated screen and surround sound, Sony AV receiver, Fire stick and is compatible with tablet and laptops for presentations. Rustle up a feast in the well equipped kitchen with rangemaster electric range cooker. The adjoining scullery has 2 dishwashers, large fridge, upright freezer and microwave and the pantry is home to a further fridge, washing machine and tumble dryer. Enjoy family feasts in the dining room with 3 tables to seat a total of 30 people. The study has seating for 6 with a wide screen Smart TV and DVD player, ideal for quiet time away from the rest of the group or catching up with a good book. After dinner head to the games room, play snooker, may the best team win at table football or relax in front of the TV. Two ground floor bedrooms, the first has a super king size bed and the second a twin bedroom with shared disabled friendly en-suite with ‘drive in’ shower. The back hall is spacious enough for everyone’s coats and boots and the cloakroom has 2 WCs and hand basin. There is also a lift servicing both floors.
The first floor has 12 bedrooms all spacious and either views over the gardens or yard. Six twin bedrooms of which 4 have an en-suite shower or bathroom. Six bedrooms have super king size beds with 5 en-suite bathrooms with bath and separate shower cubicle. There are a further 2 bathrooms one with a bath the other with a shower and a cloakroom with WC and hand basin.

Located for exploring the beautiful county of Cumbria and the Scottish Borders, Longtown nestles just 10 miles from Gretna and the Scottish Border with the northern fells of the Lake District less than an hours drive. The Solway Coast both along the Cumbrian and Scottish shoreline offer sandy beaches for days out with the kids, linger into the evening and marvel at the stunning sunsets as the sun disappears over the horizon. The area is steeped in history; explore historical houses and gardens, march like a Roman soldier along the World Heritage Hadrian's Wall and visit some of the museums with Roman artifacts or visit Carlisle Castler where Mary Queen of the Scotts was imprisoned. River walks along the River Est lead to Longtown where there are shops, pubs and cafes. The border city of Carlisle is a 15 minute drive with a wealth of shops, bars, restaurants, take aways, cineme and visitor attractions, along with a number of parks and soft play centres. There really is something for everyone, no matter your age, to enjoy in this exquisite corner of England.
