Windermere, Lake District

Lake Windermere is home to a host of traditional Lakeland villages including Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere, Kendal, Troutbeck and Newby Bridge to a name a few all surrounded by stunning Lakeland mountains and lakes.

There are numerous shops, art galleries, bars, restaurants and cafes, serving delicious locally sourced home made treats or selling specialised wares perfect for your Lake District adventures.

Lake Windermere dominates the area and is the largest lake in England, jump aboard the ferry and explore Ambleside, Windermere or Lakeside, there is even a car ferry that will take you across the lake, ideal if you want to visit Hawkeshead and the Langdales.

There are numerous walks to be enjoyed from the more challenging Langdale Pikes and Coniston Old Man to much easier walks perfect for little legs including the Coffin Trail and Helm Crag all promising amazing views and adventure.

The area is filled with things to do so if you are looking for a base from which to try something new each day then the South Lakes is perfect, you could try rock climbing, water sports, a day at the races, lake cruise, ghyll scrambling, horse riding, paragliding or simply a day relaxing and being pampered at one of the many Spas.
